Shift Swapping Is Here
Coordinating shift changes can be messy. Someone needs to reschedule, but reaching out to a manager — whether it’s a message, a phone call, or a hallway chat — isn’t always convenient. You have to explain the situation, wait while they check availability, and hope the other person agrees. It takes time, effort, and back-and-forth that often delays a simple swap.
Now, with our new Swap Shift feature, employees can propose shift trades directly to teammates — saving time, reducing back-and-forth, and keeping managers out of the weeds (unless you want them involved).
How It Works
When someone needs to reschedule, they can open their shift and click Swap. From there, they can:

- Select one or more of their teammates’ shifts they’re willing to swap with
- Add a comment for context
- Send request
Everyone selected as a potential Taker will receive a notification. The first person to accept the request will trade shift with the requester. Once accepted, the swap is locked — the request becomes invalid for the rest.

Settings That Give You Control
To keep swaps organized and predictable, team admins have two key settings in Team Settings:

- Allow users to swap shifts up to X hours before the shift
Choose a time limit (e.g. 24, 48, 72 hours). This prevents last-minute chaos and gives everyone time to adjust. - Require admin to approve drops and swaps
If enabled, even after a coworker accepts the swap, it’s pending until an admin reviews and approves it from the Inbox. No changes happen until approval.
Admins receive notifications, and can Approve or Decline with one click.

Why This Matters
Shift Swap is a big step forward in team autonomy. It gives employees more flexibility to solve scheduling conflicts on their own — and frees up managers to focus on more important tasks.
Whether someone has a doctor’s appointment or just needs to switch days, now they can make it happen in a few taps — no awkward messages, no delay.
