Use this page to prepare a Bangladesh invoice that matches the practical structure clients, accountants, and VAT records expect. A VAT-registered supplier in Bangladesh issues a VAT invoice in Form VAT-6.3 against each taxable supply, so the invoice needs more than a client name, line item, and total. The document must identify the supply, the parties, the VAT treatment, and the amount payable in Taka.
The finished invoice should let the buyer understand the charge without asking for a billing breakdown. It should also leave the supplier with a clear record for filing, audit, payment follow-up, and project profitability. For service businesses, the cleanest invoice usually starts with approved billable time, agreed rates, billable expenses, and exclusions for non-billable work.
Bangladesh's indirect-tax regime for invoices is VAT, imposed on taxable imports and taxable supplies under the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012. The standard VAT rate is 15% unless a special rule, zero-rating, or exemption applies. NBR's FAQ also states exports are taxed at 0%, so the VAT line must reflect the actual supply type instead of using one default treatment for every client.
A Bangladesh tax invoice must include the issue date and time, supplier name, address, and Business Identification Number, plus buyer name, address, and BIN where required. It also needs the goods or service description, quantity, supply date and time, VAT-exclusive value, VAT rate, VAT payable, and the total value plus VAT. Serial numbering must run by fiscal year.
Buyer name, address, and Business Identification Number are required on a tax invoice when the value of the supply exceeds Taka 25,000. The Act states input tax credit is not admissible if those buyer details are omitted where required, so this is a document-quality issue, not a cosmetic field. A supplier should collect buyer BIN details before issuing higher-value VAT invoices.
A registered or enlisted person must send information for any VAT invoice or turnover tax invoice valued at more than Taka 2 lakh to the VAT Computer System in VAT-6.10 before or after filing the return for the tax period, unless the required data is already sent through an approved automated system. Large invoices need a reporting step, not just a PDF.
A one-off invoice tool is enough when you need a single client document, already know the VAT treatment, and have the time, rate, expense, and buyer details ready. It works for a simple service invoice, a replacement copy, or a small job where one person controls billing and records. Keep at least two copies of a Bangladesh tax invoice, with the original given to the purchaser and the supplier preserving a copy.
A managed workflow becomes necessary when tracked hours, expenses, project rates, non-billable exclusions, approvals, and accounting handoff all affect the final bill. Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, calculates amounts from rates while excluding non-billable tasks, supports client settings and invoice customization, and exports invoices to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks with status sync back to Everhour.

A VAT-registered supplier in Bangladesh must issue a VAT invoice in Form VAT-6.3 against each taxable supply. The invoice needs the prescribed tax details, including date and time, supplier BIN, supply details, VAT-exclusive value, VAT rate, VAT payable, and total value plus VAT. A custom format is allowed only if it includes the form name, all prescribed information, and the minimum required copies.
The supplier's Business Identification Number belongs on the VAT invoice. Buyer name, address, and BIN are required when the value of the supply exceeds Taka 25,000. Omitting buyer details where required can block input tax credit under the Act, so higher-value invoices should collect and print buyer registration details before issue.
The standard Bangladesh VAT rate is 15% for taxable imports and taxable supplies unless a special rule or exemption applies. NBR's FAQ also states exports are taxed at 0%. The invoice should show the VAT rate that applies to the specific supply, then show the VAT amount and the total value including VAT.
VAT invoices in Bangladesh must be serially numbered by fiscal year. A registered person supplying from more than one place must use separate serially numbered invoices for each place, with the place name, address, and invoice number. Reusing numbers across locations or years creates avoidable recordkeeping problems.
A registered or enlisted person must send information for any VAT invoice or turnover tax invoice valued at more than Taka 2 lakh to the VAT Computer System in VAT-6.10 before or after filing the return for the tax period. This step is not required if the required data has already been sent through an approved automated system.
