A useful Indonesian time record starts with the workweek: employee, date, project or work type, start and end time, break treatment, regular hours, overtime hours, and approval status. Indonesia's normal working-time limit is 7 hours per day and 40 hours per week for a 6-day workweek, or 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week for a 5-day workweek, subject to sector-specific exceptions.
The goal is a record that payroll, managers, and finance can read without reconstructing the week from chat messages. Local teams also need practical localization. Bank Indonesia identifies the rupiah as the currency of the Republic of Indonesia, so billable rates, payroll extracts, budgets, and client-facing summaries should use Indonesian rupiah, IDR, unless a contract states another billing currency.
Overtime in Indonesia needs a record before the pay run starts. Employers must order overtime and obtain the worker's written or electronic approval before the overtime work is performed. Employers using overtime must also keep an overtime implementation list that records the workers' names and the length of overtime worked.
The figures matter because ordinary workday overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly wage for the first overtime hour and 2 times the hourly wage for each later overtime hour. For monthly-paid workers, the hourly wage used in overtime calculations is based on 1/173 of the monthly wage. Time records should separate regular time from approved overtime, since blended totals create payroll rework.
Indonesia's labor rules set working-time and overtime controls, and they require overtime documentation. They do not prescribe a universal daily time-tracking system equivalent to the EU objective working-time record rule. A software choice should match the work pattern: office schedules, field work, client projects, shift teams, and remote teams need different levels of detail.
The common mistake is treating a timestamp as the whole record. A clock-in time does not identify client work, approved overtime, billable status, or the manager who accepted a timesheet. Employee-identifiable time logs also fall under Law No. 27 of 2022, Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law, so the tracking process should collect work data with a clear business purpose.
A spreadsheet can work for a short project, a small team, or a one-time overtime cleanup. It becomes fragile when employees split time across departments, clients, and approval chains. Indonesian teams also need records that support overtime lists, IDR reporting, bilingual workforce processes where needed, and consistent manager review.
A managed workflow gives you a repeatable system of record. Everhour Team Management covers lock rules, admin time correction, personal tracking limits, weekly capacity, approval workflow, roles, project assignments, team groups, and team-wide time policy defaults. That structure helps teams turn weekly time entry into reviewed records for payroll, billing, capacity planning, and project reporting.

Indonesia does not impose a universal EU-style objective daily time-recording system. The compliance driver is narrower: employers must manage statutory working-time limits and keep concrete records for overtime. A time clock can help, but the stronger record includes employee names, overtime duration, approval status, and the work period the entry belongs to.
A usable overtime record should capture the employee's name, overtime date, overtime duration, written or electronic approval, and whether the overtime occurred on an ordinary workday, weekly rest day, or official holiday. For ordinary workday overtime, the first hour uses 1.5 times the hourly wage and later hours use 2 times the hourly wage.
Project-level tracking gives payroll and managers a clearer record when employees split hours across clients, departments, or cost centers. Attendance alone can show presence, but it does not show billable status, project budget use, or which manager reviewed the work. Teams with client billing or internal cost allocation should track both working time and work category.
Employee-identifiable time logs fall under Law No. 27 of 2022 when they process personal data. The law regulates data-subject rights, processing, controller and processor obligations, transfers, sanctions, and enforcement matters. Time tracking should collect work-related data, limit unnecessary monitoring, and keep personal identifiers tied to a clear payroll, billing, or workforce purpose.
Indonesian rupiah is the currency of the Republic of Indonesia, according to Bank Indonesia. Local payroll exports, project budgets, and billable rates are normally easier to review when they use IDR. A client contract can specify another billing currency, but internal workforce reporting should still make local payroll and budget review clear.
Everhour Team Management lets admins set lock rules, correct time entries, define personal tracking limits, manage weekly capacity, and run approval workflows. Teams can organize people by roles, project assignments, and team groups so submitted time reaches the right reviewer before payroll, billing, or reporting uses it.
Everhour Reporting turns logged time, budgets, costs, and project data into customizable reports with columns, grouping, filters, date ranges, and export formats such as CSV, Excel/XLSX, and PDF. Finance teams can review approved time by person, project, client, and billable status before moving records into payroll or invoicing.
Use a repeatable approval workflow for hours, overtime, and project time. Everhour Team Management keeps limits, roles, corrections, and approvals in one workflow for cleaner payroll and billing records.
