Use this page when you need to prepare and download an invoice for a Malaysian buyer, supplier, or project without building a document from scratch. The result should identify the seller and buyer, describe the goods or services, show currency and totals, and give the payer enough information to settle the invoice without asking for corrections.
Malaysia uses Sales and Service Tax, or SST. Sales tax applies as a single-stage tax on imported and locally manufactured goods, while service tax applies to prescribed taxable services provided by taxable persons in Malaysia. SST-registered manufacturers and registered service providers issue the relevant sales tax or service tax invoice, and Malaysia's SST invoice guidance allows hard-copy or electronic invoices in Malay or English.
A Malaysia invoice should carry the fields that matter beyond a polished PDF. MyInvois requires supplier and buyer information, e-Invoice type and version, an e-Invoice code or number, issue date and time, digital signature, invoice currency, line items, monetary totals, total tax amount, and tax type. Missing identifiers create rework because the invoice can look complete while failing structured submission checks.
Supplier details need the TIN, registration or identification number, MSIC code, business activity description, address, and contact number. SST registrants must include an SST registration number, while non-registrants use `NA`. Buyer details need the buyer name, TIN, registration or identification number, address, and contact number, with the buyer SST registration number supplied for SST registrants or `NA` where it is unavailable or not provided.
A downloadable invoice should be readable as a client document and consistent as a record. Keep one invoice number, one issue date, clear line descriptions, quantities or units where relevant, and a totals block that separates tax-exclusive total, tax-inclusive total, payable total, total tax amount, and total tax amount per tax type. MyInvois treats those totals as required fields.
Use Malaysian Ringgit for local invoices unless the commercial agreement uses another currency. MyInvois requires the invoice currency code, and a currency exchange rate becomes mandatory where a non-Malaysian currency must be converted into Malaysian Ringgit. Payment terms are optional in MyInvois, but adding agreed timing, payment mode, or bank details reduces payment questions after the invoice is downloaded.
A downloaded invoice is enough for a single job, a low-volume client, or a quick replacement document where you already have the correct supplier, buyer, SST, and currency details. It works best when the invoice is the final step and the work behind it is already clear, approved, and priced.
A managed workflow becomes necessary when billable time, project costs, and invoice history need a durable record. Everhour Reporting gives teams customizable reports with 45+ columns, grouping, filters, date ranges, exports, and scheduled email delivery, so invoice amounts can be checked against time, cost, client, project, member, and invoice-status data before billing moves forward.

A Malaysia invoice needs SST details when the supplier is an SST-registered manufacturer selling taxable goods or a registered person providing taxable services. SST registrants must include the SST registration number. For MyInvois supplier and buyer SST fields, `NA` is used where the party is not registered or the value is unavailable or not provided.
LHDN phases mandatory e-Invoice implementation by annual turnover or revenue: more than RM100 million from August 1, 2024; more than RM25 million to RM100 million from January 1, 2025; more than RM5 million to RM25 million from July 1, 2025; RM1 million to RM5 million from January 1, 2026. Taxpayers below RM1,000,000 annual turnover or revenue are exempt.
Malaysia's SST invoice guidance permits sales tax and service tax invoices to be issued in the National Language or in English. The document can be hard copy or electronic, provided the required invoice particulars are present. For e-Invoice workflows, the structured MyInvois fields still matter even when the client-facing invoice is easy to read.
MyInvois requires the invoice currency code on the invoice. Use MYR when the transaction is priced in Malaysian Ringgit. If a non-Malaysian currency needs conversion into Malaysian Ringgit, MyInvois requires a currency exchange rate. The invoice should also keep totals clear before tax, after tax, payable amount, total tax, and tax by type.
Identifier gaps cause avoidable rejection and correction cycles. A Malaysia e-Invoice requires supplier and buyer TIN details plus registration or identification numbers. Supplier records also need MSIC code, business activity description, address, and contact number. A clean PDF without those fields is weak evidence for a structured Malaysia invoice workflow.
Everhour Reporting lets teams build reports with 45+ columns, filters, grouping, date ranges, and exports. A billing lead can compare billable time, non-billable time, client, project, member, cost, invoice status, and profit data before preparing a Malaysia invoice for download or accounting handoff.
Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts uninvoiced billable time and expenses into client invoices. Invoice data can be grouped by project, task, person, date, or another available breakdown, and invoices can be exported to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks as drafts.
Use Everhour Reporting to review billable work, costs, clients, projects, and invoice status before billing, then export records that keep Malaysia invoice work traceable.
