Tracked hours flow straight into a polished invoice — no copy-paste, no manual math.
Basecamp design work becomes reviewable when each time record points back to the to-do that produced the work. For architecture firms, that means hours attach to a drawing update, consultant coordination item, specification review, site memo follow-up, or similar deliverable instead of floating at the project level.
That attachment matters when several people touch the same Basecamp project. Broad entries such as "design work" or "admin" force the reviewer to guess which deliverable consumed the time. Clean entries show the to-do, project, date, duration, and note, then carry into reporting without requiring someone to rebuild the week from memory.
The Basecamp to-do is the tracking anchor. Everhour embeds tracking controls into Basecamp through the browser extension, so the workflow belongs in the browser rather than Basecamp native apps. Start a timer from the to-do during focused production work, or add a manual entry after a meeting, review session, or field note. Both methods keep the entry tied to the work item.
A useful time entry carries the to-do, project, date, duration, and a short note that explains the work. Billing setup lives in Everhour, where admins set a Basecamp project's billing method as hourly rate, fixed fee, or non-billable. Inside a billable project, a specific task can still be marked non-billable or assigned a custom task rate.
Architecture work often moves through phases, reviews, and handoffs. Use Basecamp to-do titles that identify the actual deliverable, such as "revise lobby reflected ceiling plan" or "review structural comments for permit set." The entry note should add the action taken instead of repeating the title. That small distinction helps a reviewer understand whether the time came from drafting, coordination, review, or administration.
Messages, schedule items, and file discussions can trigger architecture work. The reviewable time record should still attach to a Basecamp to-do. Create the to-do first, then log the timer or manual entry there. Everhour Basecamp reports use project, to-do, list, task ID, and task status fields, giving finance and project leads a clean path back to the source work.
A one-off note is enough when one person needs a same-day reminder of time spent on a small task. That approach breaks down when designers, project architects, and admins all log against the same Basecamp project. A durable workflow needs submitted weekly time, review comments, locked periods, reporting, and a handoff to billing or payroll review.
Everhour Timesheets let users submit weekly project hours or working hours for review, depending on whether the team tracks task time, timecards, or both. Managers can approve, reject, or partially approve submitted time. Admins can lock completed periods or stop regular members from editing after approval, keeping closed Basecamp time ready for billing or payroll review.

Record time against the Basecamp to-do that represents the deliverable instead of a general project note. Use a live timer for production blocks that start and stop cleanly, and enter manual time after meetings or field work. The entry should include the date, duration, person, and a note that names the action completed.
Create separate records for work that a reviewer would price, question, or compare separately: drawing revisions, consultant coordination, permit review, client changes, and internal administration. A vague bucket hides the source of the hours. A separate to-do with a clear title, assignee, due date, and note gives the time record enough context for billing review.
Create or update a Basecamp to-do for the work first, then attach the time to that to-do. Message discussions, schedule items, and file comments often explain why the work happened, but the to-do gives the reviewer a stable work item with a title, assignment, status, and place in the project list.
Set billing rules at the project level before people start logging time. Client work that belongs on an invoice needs billable project setup; internal meetings, training, and administrative cleanup need non-billable treatment. Inside a billable project, mark tasks that must stay out of billable totals before reports are reviewed.
A weak record has a total duration with no specific to-do, deliverable, or note. Entries need enough context for a principal or bookkeeper to connect hours to the client work being billed. Daily totals also need a sensible split across to-dos when one person moves between drafting, coordination, and review in the same day.
Everhour Timesheets let architecture teams submit weekly project hours or working hours for review, depending on whether the team tracks task time, timecards, or both. Managers can approve, reject, or partially approve submitted time, and approved time stays locked for regular members.
Everhour Reporting can include Basecamp project, to-do, list, task ID, and task status fields. Reports can group and filter tracked time by those fields, then export results as CSV, Excel/XLSX, or PDF for client review, cost checks, or internal archive.
Move architecture time from scattered notes into submitted weekly timesheets. Everhour supports approval review and admin locking controls, giving firms a cleaner billing and payroll handoff.
