Use this page to organize work time for Vietnam-based employees, contractors, or distributed teams that need a clean weekly record. The practical goal is simple: capture each person's working hours by day, project, and task, then separate regular work, overtime, night work, leave, and corrections before the data reaches payroll or billing.
Vietnam does not impose an EU-style objective daily working-time record for all employees, but the Labour Code requires employers to prepare and update a physical or electronic employee book and report employment-status changes. Time tracking still matters because normal working hours must not exceed 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week, and weekly scheduling has its own daily cap.
A useful Vietnam time record separates ordinary hours from overtime on normal days, weekly days off, public holidays, and paid leave. Vietnam's minimum overtime pay rates are 150%, 200%, and 300% for those categories, so a single undifferentiated overtime total creates payroll cleanup work and increases the risk of using the wrong multiplier.
Night work needs its own field. Vietnam defines night work as 22:00 to 06:00 and requires at least a 30% premium. Overtime at night also adds at least 20% of the day-work salary for the relevant day type. Salary in employment contracts and actual payment must be in Vietnamese dong except for foreign employees, and each salary payment must include a note showing salary, overtime pay, nightshift pay, and deductions if any.
A Vietnam setup should define the workweek, expected daily schedule, overtime approval path, and the person responsible for correcting entries. An employer may request overtime only when the employee agrees and statutory limits are respected. General overtime caps include 50% of normal working hours in a day, 40 hours per month, and 200 hours per year except specified cases.
Employee time data that identifies a worker belongs inside Vietnam's personal-data framework. The Personal Data Protection Law takes effect January 1, 2026, alongside Decree 356/2025/ND-CP. A time tracking policy should tell employees which data is collected, why it is collected, who reviews it, and whether notice, consent, or a lawful exemption supports the processing.
A one-off weekly total is enough for a small correction, a client backup note, or a quick review of one employee's hours. It stops being enough when managers need overtime consent records, project budgets, recurring client work, payroll review, or a reliable way to prevent late edits after approval.
Everhour Project Budgeting fits the managed workflow stage. Teams can track hour-based or money-based budgets, use recurring budget periods, set 75%, 90%, 100%, or custom threshold email alerts, and apply budget protection so extra time does not keep accumulating after a project exceeds its limit.

Vietnam's Labour Code requires employers to maintain a physical or electronic employee book and report employment-status changes. It does not set an EU-style universal rule requiring objective daily working-time records for every employee. Employers still need reliable working-hour data to manage normal-hour limits, overtime consent, payroll notes, and night-work premiums.
Separate overtime on normal working days, weekly days off, public holidays, and paid leave because Vietnam's minimum rates differ by category: 150%, 200%, and 300%. A time record should also identify night overtime separately because night work from 22:00 to 06:00 carries an additional premium structure.
Weekly scheduling can raise the daily limit, but it does not remove the weekly limit. If an employer applies working hours on a weekly basis, daily working hours may not exceed 10 hours and weekly hours may not exceed 48 hours. The state encourages 40-hour workweeks.
Combining regular hours, overtime, night work, and deductions into one payroll figure causes incomplete salary notes. Vietnam requires each salary payment to include a note showing salary, overtime pay, nightshift pay, and deductions if any. The record should keep those components separate before payroll is prepared in Vietnamese dong.
Employee time-tracking data that identifies a worker should be treated as personal data processing. Vietnam's Personal Data Protection Law takes effect January 1, 2026, and Decree 356/2025/ND-CP sets related obligations. Employers should document the purpose, data fields, reviewers, retention approach, and notice, consent, or lawful exemption used for processing.
Everhour Project Budgeting tracks hour-based and money-based budgets as employees log time. Teams can use one-time or recurring budget periods, choose threshold email alerts at 75%, 90%, 100%, or a custom level, and apply budget protection to stop timers or prevent additional logging after a limit is exceeded.
Everhour Timesheets collect weekly project hours and working hours by person, then let managers approve, reject, or partially approve submitted time. Submitted and approved time is locked for regular members, which keeps reviewed records stable before payroll, billing, or reporting work begins.
Track approved hours, budgets, and recurring client work in one workflow. Everhour gives teams project budget controls that turn daily time entries into cleaner billing and payroll review.
