Use this page to prepare an invoice for work billed to a Vietnam client or issued by a Vietnam business. The finished invoice should identify the seller, buyer, supplied goods or services, invoice number, issuance date, VAT treatment, and total payable. For Vietnam, invoice text is required in Vietnamese, with an optional foreign-language translation where needed.
Vietnam uses VAT invoices for taxable supplies. VAT rates are 0%, 5%, 10%, or exempt depending on the goods or services, with a temporary 2-percentage-point reduction for certain goods and services from July 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026. Choose the tax treatment from the transaction, not from a client preference or copied prior invoice.
A Vietnamese invoice normally needs the seller's name, address, and tax identification number, plus the buyer's name, address, and tax identification number where the buyer has one. It also needs the invoice name, invoice symbol or form information, invoice number, and date of issuance so the document can be identified and tracked in sequence.
Line items need enough detail for the buyer and tax review: description, unit of measure, quantity, unit price, and line amount before tax where VAT invoicing applies. For VAT invoices, show the pre-tax amount, VAT rate, VAT amount, and total amount payable including VAT. State amounts in Vietnamese dong by default unless foreign-currency invoicing is legally permitted.
An invoicing app for Vietnam should support VAT fields, Vietnamese-language invoice text, Vietnamese dong totals, tax identification numbers, and invoice name, symbol, and number fields. A generic invoice maker often produces a clean PDF, but missing tax IDs, wrong currency handling, or an untracked invoice symbol can make the document harder to reconcile.
Vietnam has mandatory e-invoicing for many taxpayers. From July 1, 2022, businesses, economic organizations, business households, and individuals paying tax under the declaration method generally must use e-invoices, except for limited cases. Treat a downloaded invoice as a working document unless your business process also meets the applicable e-invoice issuance, digital signing, or tax authority code requirements.
A one-off invoice tool works for a single service invoice, a quick client request, or a draft you need to check before formal issuance. It is enough when the amount is already known, the VAT treatment is clear, and you only need a formatted document with the right fields.
A managed workflow fits recurring client work, time-and-materials billing, and teams that need an audit trail from work performed to invoice sent. Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, calculates amounts from rates while excluding non-billable tasks, and supports client settings, invoice customization, and exports to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks.

Start with seller and buyer details, tax identification numbers, invoice name, symbol or form information, invoice number, and issuance date. Add line-item descriptions, units, quantities, unit prices, pre-tax amounts, VAT rate, VAT amount, and the total payable. These fields create the invoice record before payment notes, branding, or internal comments.
A VAT invoice should show the taxable base, applicable VAT rate, VAT amount, and total payable including VAT. Vietnam VAT treatment varies by goods or services, with rates of 0%, 5%, 10%, or exempt treatment, plus a temporary 2-percentage-point reduction for certain goods and services from July 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026.
A PDF alone is not the same as a compliant e-invoice process. From July 1, 2022, most taxpayers under the declaration method generally must use e-invoices, except for limited cases. Your business process may also need digital signing, a tax authority code, or other e-invoice handling depending on invoice type.
Vietnam invoices are generally stated in Vietnamese dong. Foreign-currency invoices may be used only where permitted under foreign-exchange rules and converted or presented as required by Vietnam invoice regulations. Do not switch currency only because a client pays from abroad or asks for a different display currency.
The most common avoidable mistake is treating a generic invoice layout as complete. Vietnam invoices need tax identification numbers, invoice name, symbol or form information, invoice number, Vietnamese-language text, line-item quantities and prices, VAT fields where applicable, and Vietnamese dong currency by default. Missing any of those fields creates extra correction work.
Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, calculates invoice amounts from rates, and excludes non-billable tasks. Client records can hold contacts, taxes, discounts, and payment terms, while invoices can be exported to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks.
Everhour syncs exported invoice status, invoice number, issue date, and amount back from QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks. That keeps billing reports connected to the invoice record after the accounting tool becomes the place where the invoice is managed.
Track approved time, rates, and expenses before invoice day. Everhour converts billable work into invoices and keeps exported invoice status connected to project billing.
