A Bangladesh invoice should give the buyer enough information to verify the supplier, match the purchase, and process payment. For VAT-registered suppliers, the central document is the VAT invoice in Form VAT-6.3 for each taxable supply under the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012. The invoice should separate the supply value, VAT rate, VAT payable, and total amount including VAT.
For service work, the same discipline applies: identify the client, describe the service, state the quantity or billing basis, include the supply date and time, and show the commercial total clearly. A freelancer or agency billing a Bangladesh client should also keep the invoice sequence consistent for the fiscal year, since Bangladesh VAT invoices must be serially numbered by fiscal year.
The Bangladesh VAT-6.3 invoice format requires the issue date and time, supplier name, supplier address, supplier Business Identification Number, goods or service description, quantity, supply date and time, VAT-exclusive value, VAT rate, VAT payable, and the total value including VAT. The standard VAT rate is 15% for taxable imports and taxable supplies unless a special rate, zero-rating, or exemption applies.
Buyer details need extra care. If the value of the supply exceeds Taka 25,000, the buyer name, address, and Business Identification Number are required on the tax invoice. The Act states that input tax credit is not admissible if those buyer details are omitted where required, so a missing BIN can create a real tax problem for the buyer.
Serial numbering is more than an internal filing habit in Bangladesh. A registered person supplying from more than one place must use separate serially numbered invoices for each place, with the place name, address, and invoice number. The supplier must issue at least two copies, give the original to the purchaser, and preserve a copy for records.
Online reporting can also apply. A registered or enlisted person must send information for any VAT invoice or turnover tax invoice valued at more than Taka 2 lakh to the VAT Computer System in VAT-6.10 before or after filing the return for the tax period, unless the required data is already sent through an approved automated system.
A one-off invoice is enough when you need a single client document, know the buyer details, and can apply the correct VAT treatment without rebuilding time records. It works for a finished service, a fixed-price job, or a simple taxable supply where the invoice lines and tax amount are clear before sending.
A managed workflow becomes necessary when billable hours, expenses, approvals, and project margins feed the invoice. Everhour Reporting can organize tracked time, budgets, costs, and project data with customizable columns, grouping, filters, exports, and scheduled email delivery, giving finance and operations teams a cleaner record before invoices reach the client or accounting system.

A VAT-registered supplier must issue a VAT invoice in Form VAT-6.3 against each taxable supply. NBR publishes VAT 6.3 as the prescribed VAT 2012 form, and a registered person may use its own format only when the form name, prescribed information, and required copies are included.
The Business Identification Number, or BIN, identifies a registered or enlisted person in Bangladesh. A VAT invoice must show the supplier name, address, and BIN. Buyer name, address, and BIN are required when the value of the supply exceeds Taka 25,000.
A taxable Bangladesh invoice should show the VAT-exclusive value, VAT rate, VAT payable, and total value including VAT. The standard VAT rate is 15% for taxable imports and taxable supplies unless a special rule or exemption applies. NBR's FAQ states that exports are taxed at 0%.
A registered or enlisted person must send information for any VAT invoice or turnover tax invoice valued at more than Taka 2 lakh to the VAT Computer System in VAT-6.10. The reporting can happen before or after the return for the tax period, unless an approved automated system already sends the required data.
The supplier must issue a Bangladesh tax invoice in at least two copies. The original goes to the purchaser, and the supplier preserves a copy. For goods in transport, the original invoice must accompany the vehicle, so copy handling affects logistics as well as bookkeeping.
