A receipt template for Greece helps you document that a customer paid for goods or services. It should identify the supplier, customer, paid amount, payment date, payment method, and the invoice or transaction it settles. For B2B work, the receipt should stay tied to the VAT invoice rather than replacing it.
Greek business records sit inside the EU VAT framework, with VAT called ΦΠΑ in Greece. A receipt for a VATable business sale should match the underlying invoice details, including the supplier's VAT identification number or Greek TIN, known as AFM. Treat the receipt as payment evidence, not as a shortcut around invoice obligations.
A complete Greek VAT invoice uses the standard EU invoice fields: issue date, unique sequential invoice number, supplier and customer names and addresses, VAT ID where required, line description and quantity, net unit price, transaction or payment date if different, VAT rate, VAT amount, and VAT breakdown by rate or exemption.
Greece's standard VAT rate is 24%, with reduced rates of 6%, 13%, and 17%, plus a 4% super-reduced rate for qualifying supplies. The correct receipt should show the amount paid and reference the same VAT treatment used on the invoice. A paid receipt that shows only a total can create reconciliation problems later.
Greece uses AADE's myDATA environment for invoice data transmission. AADE's timologio application supports electronic invoice issuance and real-time transmission of the necessary information to myDATA. If invoices are issued through an AADE-recognized e-invoicing provider, the e-invoice receives a Unique Entry Number and must show a QR code for authenticity verification.
Public-sector work has extra routing rules. For Greek public-sector contracts, the staged obligation for suppliers to submit electronic invoices began on September 12, 2023, with routing through certified e-invoicing providers and PEPPOL-related infrastructure where required. A receipt template can document payment, but it does not replace required e-invoicing steps.
A one-off receipt template is enough when you need to confirm a single paid invoice, record a bank transfer, or send a simple client receipt after payment. Use Greek or English consistently, since AADE's timologio release notes state that document issuance language can be selected as Greek or English.
A managed workflow matters when billable time, expenses, taxes, payment terms, and invoice status must stay connected. Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, calculates amounts from rates while excluding non-billable tasks, and keeps invoice status visible after export to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks.

A Greece receipt confirms payment, while a VAT invoice documents the taxable supply. For most B2B supplies under EU VAT invoicing rules, a business generally must issue a VAT invoice when goods or services are supplied to another business or to a non-taxable legal entity, subject to listed exemptions.
A Greek business receipt should match the supplier details on the related invoice, including the VAT identification number or Greek TIN, known as AFM. EU rules require the supplier's VAT identification number on invoices except simplified invoices in some countries, and AADE issues Greek tax identification numbers through its tax-register process.
A Greek receipt should show VAT details that match the underlying invoice. Greece's standard VAT rate is 24%, with reduced rates of 6%, 13%, and 17%, and a 4% super-reduced rate. The applicable rate depends on the goods, services, and any special territorial rule.
A receipt that only confirms payment does not perform the same job as invoice data transmission. Greek invoice records operate in AADE's myDATA environment, and AADE's timologio application supports electronic invoice issuance with real-time transmission to myDATA. Keep receipt records aligned with the invoice already transmitted or issued through the correct channel.
A receipt should reference the actual invoice date, payment date, and paid amount. For EU commercial late-payment rules, if the contract does not fix a payment period, interest becomes automatically payable 30 calendar days after the client receives the invoice or payment request, or after delivery if the receipt date is unknown.
Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, calculates invoice amounts from rates, and excludes non-billable tasks. Client settings can hold contact details, tax rate, discount, and payment terms, so invoice defaults stay consistent before accounting export.
Everhour exports invoices to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks as drafts, then shows exported invoice status, invoice number, issue date, and amount back in Everhour. That status sync keeps project billing records connected after the invoice moves into the accounting tool.
Use Everhour Billing & Invoicing when receipts are no longer enough. Convert tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, exclude non-billable work, and keep invoice status connected for cleaner billing.
