Teams that plan in Linear often need a time view for the same cycle window used in sprint planning. Linear issues belong to one team and can include assignee, priority, estimate, cycle, label, and project. Those fields organize delivery work, while tracked hours support billing, cost review, or project follow-up after the cycle closes.
Linear estimates are effort or size values, not clock-time records. Linear supports Exponential, Fibonacci, Linear, and T-Shirt estimate scales, and its cycle and project graphs use issue points, completed issues, scope, and velocity signals. Sprint time tracking therefore needs a separate timer or time-entry layer when the review must show actual hours.
Harvest tracks time from Linear issues through its browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. A user starts the timer from the Linear issue sidebar, and Harvest places the Linear issue ID in the time-entry notes. Harvest also states that its Linear integration does not work in the Linear desktop app.
Harvest does not sync Linear projects or issues with Harvest projects or tasks. Teams need to maintain that setup in both systems, or connect a third-party automation tool. That boundary matters during sprint review because issue IDs in notes preserve a reference, but they do not create synced Linear project or issue structure inside Harvest.
A common sprint mistake is reading Linear estimate points as hours after the work is done. Linear defines effort as the estimate value, and enabled estimates feed completion and effort statistics. Unestimated issues default to 1 estimate point unless that setting is changed. None of that creates a native per-issue hour log in Linear.
Harvest and Everhour both add time tracking beside Linear rather than changing Linear's planning model. Harvest supplies the sidebar timer and issue ID note. Everhour embeds Linear tracking controls through a browser extension, syncs Linear changes such as project names, issue titles, and new labels, adds a Linear timesheet button, and supports reports using Linear labels, projects, and cycles.
A single-cycle export or manual review works when the team only needs timer entries tied back to issue IDs. That approach is enough for a short retrospective or a limited client update. It gets harder when sprint hours must feed recurring budgets, rate-based billing, cost review, or approval workflows.
Plan requirements matter before adoption. Harvest lists timesheet approvals and profitability reporting on Enterprise, from $14 per seat per month with annual billing.
