This page is for teams that manage work in Asana and need task-level time in a separate tracking system. The practical question is simple: can a person open an Asana task, start a timer, keep the entry tied to that task, and later review the hours by project, person, budget, and client-facing billing status?
Harvest answers that through its browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The integration adds a Harvest timer icon to Asana tasks, but it does not work in Safari and is not supported in the Asana desktop app. Users choose a Harvest project and task, then start a timer or save a duration or start and end times.
Harvest can import Asana projects and people, and a Harvest Administrator can enable one-way project sync from Asana to Harvest. The import does not bring in Asana tasks, does not work on Harvest free accounts, and does not sync Harvest changes back into Asana. That boundary matters when the Asana task list changes often.
Time tracked from an Asana task appears as totals in Asana List view, Board view, and task view. Harvest also places the Asana task name and link into the Harvest time entry note when time starts from Asana. Entries created from the Harvest extension toolbar do not show the Asana reference on the Asana time entry form.
Harvest supports project budgets in hours or fees, including total project hours, hours per task, hours per person, total project fees, and fees per task. Users can set budget email alerts at a chosen percentage threshold. Harvest sends the alert the morning after the project crosses that threshold, then weekly for regular budgets or monthly for monthly budgets.
Harvest supports project, person, and task billable rates, and person-level cost rates calculate project costs in project and exported time reports. Timesheet approvals, profitability reporting, an activity log, and unlimited custom reports are listed on Harvest Enterprise. Approval lets Administrators and Managers review, approve, and lock submitted time and expense entries.
A Harvest Asana timer setup is enough when the job is task-level tracking, simple time review, and Harvest-side reporting. It fits teams that accept browser-extension tracking, one-way Asana-to-Harvest project sync, and task references stored mainly inside Harvest entries and task-level Asana totals.
A managed billing workflow needs a stronger handoff from tracked time to invoice records. Everhour adds tracking controls inside Asana, syncs Asana projects and tasks in under five minutes, and keeps project names, task titles, custom fields, and tags available for reporting. Everhour Billing & Invoicing can then turn uninvoiced billable time and expenses into invoices.

Yes. Harvest adds a timer icon to Asana tasks through its browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The integration is unavailable in Safari and is not supported in the Asana desktop app. A user starts tracking by selecting a Harvest project and task, then saving a running timer, duration, or start and end times.
Harvest imports Asana projects and people, and it can keep projects synced one way from Asana to Harvest. It does not import Asana tasks. A Harvest Administrator must authorize the import, and the Asana import is unavailable on Harvest free accounts.
Harvest adds the Asana task name and a link back to the Asana task in the Harvest time entry note for entries started from the Asana task timer. Entries started from the Harvest extension toolbar do not show the Asana reference on the Asana time entry form, so the start point affects traceability.
Harvest project budgets can use hours or fees, and fee budgets use billable rates to calculate budget usage. Harvest supports project, person, and task billable rates, plus person-level cost rates for project cost reporting. Budget email alerts can be set at a chosen percentage threshold.
Harvest lists timesheet approvals on Enterprise. The approval workflow lets Administrators and Managers review, approve, and lock submitted time and expense entries. Harvest pricing published on July 23, 2026 lists Free at $0, Teams from $9 per seat/month billed annually, and Enterprise from $14 per seat/month billed annually.
Everhour Billing & Invoicing uses tracked billable time and expenses to generate client invoices, calculate amounts from rates, and exclude non-billable work. Invoices can be exported to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks, with invoice status, number, issue date, and amount visible back in Everhour.
Everhour syncs Asana projects and tasks in under five minutes and keeps project names, task titles, custom fields, and tags available for reporting. Teams can review Asana time with project summaries, billable versus non-billable hours, budget remaining, custom reports with 45+ columns, and Excel export.
Turn tracked Asana time into client invoices, keep billable work separate, and generate invoices from rates, time, and expenses. Everhour connects task tracking to client billing without rebuilding records by hand.
