Use this page to prepare an invoice for work sold in Sweden, especially services billed by project, task, person, or period. The finished invoice should identify the seller and buyer, explain the goods or services supplied, show the correct currency amounts, and state the commercial terms clearly enough for the client to approve payment without follow-up.
Sweden uses VAT, known locally as mervardesskatt or moms, under the Swedish and EU VAT system. A Swedish invoice that charges tax should use the VAT or moms label, show the seller's Swedish VAT number where VAT applies, and separate taxable amounts, VAT rates, and VAT amounts instead of burying tax inside a single total.
A full Swedish VAT invoice must show the issue date, a unique sequential invoice number, seller and buyer names and addresses, the supplier VAT number, the goods or services supplied, taxable amount by rate or exemption, the VAT rate, and the VAT amount due. A Swedish VAT registration number is normally written as SE followed by 10 digits and 01, for example SE999999999901.
The supply date also belongs on the invoice when it differs from the issue date and can be determined. The customer's VAT identification number is required for reverse-charge transactions or exempt intra-EU supplies that require the customer's VAT number. Sweden allows accounting records, including invoice records kept as accounting information, in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, or English.
Swedish VAT rates are 25%, 12%, and 6%, depending on the goods or services. Invoice software should let you assign the correct rate per line when one invoice includes mixed supplies. A single blended tax line creates review problems because the taxable amount by rate or exemption must remain visible on a full VAT invoice.
Simplified invoicing is available for lower-value transactions that generally do not exceed SEK 4,000 including VAT, but the invoice still needs enough information to identify the seller, transaction type, VAT, and amount. Invoices to Swedish public-sector buyers from public procurement must be compliant e-invoices under the European e-invoicing standard from April 1, 2019. A PDF invoice is not treated as a compliant e-invoice for that mandate.
A one-off invoice tool is enough when you need one Swedish VAT invoice, already know the correct VAT treatment, and can manually enter every line, due date, and buyer detail. Use it for a small job, a quick draft, or a client that only needs a clean PDF outside a recurring billing process.
A managed workflow fits recurring client work, project billing, and teams that need invoice amounts tied back to approved time, expenses, rates, and internal records. Everhour Reporting can group billable time by project, client, member, task, date range, invoice status, and other columns, then export reports as CSV, Excel/XLSX, or PDF for billing review before invoices move to accounting.

Yes. Swedish invoices that charge tax should use VAT or moms fields and show the taxable amount, VAT rate, and VAT amount due. Sweden's VAT rates are 25%, 12%, and 6%, so software should support different rates when separate goods or services use different VAT treatment.
The seller's Swedish VAT registration number belongs on a full VAT invoice where VAT applies. The usual format is SE followed by 10 digits and 01, for example SE999999999901. The number is based on the Swedish organisation number and identifies the supplier for VAT purposes.
A PDF is not treated as a compliant e-invoice for Swedish public-procurement invoices. Since April 1, 2019, invoices issued to Swedish public-sector buyers as a result of public procurement must be electronic invoices that comply with the European e-invoicing standard.
Yes, if you issue small invoices. Sweden generally allows simplified invoices when the total does not exceed SEK 4,000 including VAT. The simplified invoice still needs enough information to identify the seller, the transaction type, the VAT, and the amount, so it is shorter than a full invoice but not blank-form billing.
A 30-day term is a practical default when no other due date has been agreed. Under Swedish late-payment interest rules, interest on a monetary claim generally starts only after 30 days from the creditor's invoice or payment demand, and the statutory rate is the reference rate plus eight percentage points.
Everhour Reporting gives teams customizable reports with 45+ columns, filters, grouping, date ranges, and exports in CSV, Excel/XLSX, or PDF. A billing lead can review billable time, non-billable time, invoice status, costs, revenue, and project profitability before Swedish invoice totals are finalized.
Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into client invoices from uninvoiced items. Invoice data can be grouped by project, task, person, date, or other available breakdowns, and exported to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks as drafts.
Use Everhour reports to review billable work, invoice status, and project profitability before billing clients. Everhour connects reporting exports with invoice preparation for cleaner recurring billing.
