This page is for teams that track project hours and bill clients through QuickBooks Online. The practical goal is simple: capture time against the right work, mark the correct hours as billable, and move invoice data into accounting without rebuilding every line by hand.
QuickBooks handles the accounting record. A time tracking workflow supplies the hours, rates, client, project, and billable status behind the invoice. For U.S. teams, the same time records also support payroll review because covered employers must keep accurate daily and weekly hours for nonexempt workers under the FLSA.
A clean workflow starts with time entries tied to a person, task or project, client, date, duration, and billable status. Hourly rates need a clear source, usually the member rate or project rate used for client billing. Non-billable tasks stay out of invoice totals.
For wage-and-hour review, keep payroll facts separate from client billing labels. Covered nonexempt employees must receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a fixed 168-hour workweek at not less than 1.5 times the regular rate. Client invoices can use project billing rules, but payroll review still needs complete daily and weekly hours.
QuickBooks Online integration has a defined direction. QuickBooks Online contacts sync into Everhour clients, including basic business details, taxes, and the product or service used on exported invoices. The sync does not give a granular option to select only certain contacts.
Invoice export moves the other way. An invoice built from billable time and expenses in Everhour exports to QuickBooks Online as a draft invoice. After authorization, default Account and Item Code settings guide export behavior. QuickBooks then manages the accounting invoice, while Everhour keeps showing status, invoice number, issue date, and amount.
A one-off time tool is enough when you need a quick billing summary, a small project has few entries, or one person controls both the work log and the invoice. Keep the exported record with the invoice and retain basic time and earnings records for at least two years when they support wage-and-hour records.
A managed workflow fits teams that approve time before billing, invoice from billable hours, and need a visible handoff to QuickBooks Online. Everhour syncs QuickBooks customers into clients, exports invoices built from billable hours and expenses as QuickBooks draft invoices, and keeps key invoice status details visible after export.

QuickBooks Online manages accounting, invoicing, and financial records. A time tracking system captures work hours before they become invoice lines or payroll inputs. The strongest setup records time at the task or project level first, then sends approved billable hours into QuickBooks Online for draft invoice review.
Review the client, project, date range, billable status, hourly rate, expenses, and excluded non-billable tasks. For U.S. payroll context, also keep daily hours worked and total hours worked each workweek for covered nonexempt workers. Invoice accuracy and wage-and-hour records serve different purposes, so both checks matter.
Tracked time can feed an invoice workflow, but the accounting handoff still needs review. In Everhour's QuickBooks Online integration, an invoice created from billable hours and expenses exports as a draft invoice. That draft format gives accounting a checkpoint before sending the invoice to the client.
Default Account and Item Code settings matter because they guide how exported invoice data lands in QuickBooks Online. Teams also need to confirm the product or service associated with synced client details. A wrong default can put time-based revenue in the wrong accounting category.
Partial payments added inside Everhour do not sync to QuickBooks Online for exported invoices. Treat QuickBooks Online as the payment record after export. Everhour can still show invoice status details from the connected accounting tool, including number, issue date, amount, and changed or deleted invoice warnings.
Everhour's QuickBooks Online integration syncs QuickBooks customers into Everhour clients, then exports invoices built from billable hours and expenses as QuickBooks draft invoices. Everhour also keeps invoice status, number, issue date, and amount visible after export.
Everhour Timesheets lets users submit weekly project hours or working hours for review before billing or payroll use. Managers can approve, reject, or partially approve submitted time, and approved entries stay locked for regular members.
Track billable work, approve timesheets, and send invoice drafts to QuickBooks Online with Everhour, so client billing starts from reviewed hours and visible invoice status.
