You are evaluating a Toggl setup inside ClickUp with a specific timer location, sync path, and review record. The practical question is where each entry starts, where it is stored, and which system managers use for follow-up. Toggl's ClickUp workflow uses the Toggl Track Chrome extension after a ClickUp owner or admin connects Toggl in the App Center with a Toggl API token.
The setup works on every ClickUp plan, but Toggl time tracking inside ClickUp is Google Chrome only and does not support guests or limited members. Each user connects an individual Toggl API key so synced time lands under the correct person. That detail matters for billing review because shared setup cannot replace each user's connection.
A Toggl timer started from an integrated web app can match an existing Toggl Track project name and add tags and description from the source page. The browser extension does not create Toggl tasks automatically. ClickUp task links rely on the ClickUp task ID inside the Toggl time log description, so reviewers need that field to connect the time entry to the right task.
Sync direction is one-way from Toggl to ClickUp. Time tracked with Toggl can appear in ClickUp, but ClickUp native time entries do not flow back into Toggl, and synced Toggl entries cannot be deleted or edited from ClickUp. Treat Toggl as the editing source for those records and ClickUp as the task context that receives the synced time.
Billing depth changes once the time record leaves the task page. Toggl Track Starter includes billable rates at workspace, member, project, project member, and task levels, and it uses the most granular applicable rate in reporting. Starter also includes project and task estimates with email alert thresholds at 50%, 75%, 80%, 90%, 100%, and 150%.
Premium and Enterprise add fixed fee projects, profitability reporting with revenue, cost, profit, and profitability metrics, and timesheet approvals with submitted, reviewed, approved, or rejected entries. The ClickUp importer is a separate paid-plan migration route: it maps Spaces to Track Clients, Lists to Track Projects, imports tasks and subtasks, up to 12 months of time entries, and task estimates, and excludes ClickUp billable rates.
A one-off Toggl-in-ClickUp setup is enough when users need personal timers and a synced ClickUp reference. A managed workflow becomes necessary when managers need submissions, approvals, lock rules, admin time corrections, personal tracking limits, or weekly capacity tied to project assignments. Those controls reduce rework before billing or payroll review uses the numbers.
Everhour fits the managed side by embedding ClickUp tracking through the browser extension, syncing folders, projects, tasks, tags, and custom fields into Everhour, and adding team administration around the time record. Time tracked through Everhour stays in Everhour reporting and is excluded from ClickUp's native reports, so use that route when ClickUp remains the task source and Everhour becomes the review layer.

Toggl time syncs one way into ClickUp. Time tracked with ClickUp's native time tracking is not added to Toggl, and synced Toggl entries cannot be changed or deleted from ClickUp. Use Toggl to edit those entries, then let the integration push the record into the ClickUp task context.
ClickUp states that Toggl time tracking is available on every ClickUp plan, with a browser limit: it works inside ClickUp only in Google Chrome. The setup does not support guests or limited members. Plan access solves only part of the question; browser choice and member type decide who can use the embedded timer.
Focus on the project name, tags, and description. The Toggl browser extension can match an existing Toggl Track project name and carry over tags and description from the integrated web app, but it does not create Toggl tasks automatically. Each user also needs an individual Toggl API key so synced time attaches to the right person.
Toggl Track offers a paid-plan ClickUp importer for historical migration. The import maps ClickUp Spaces to Track Clients and ClickUp Lists to Track Projects, imports tasks and subtasks, brings in up to 12 months of time entries, and carries ClickUp task estimates into Track task estimated hours. Billable rates from ClickUp are not imported.
Toggl Track Starter includes billable rates at workspace, member, project, project member, and task levels, with the most granular applicable rate used in reporting. Premium and Enterprise add fixed fee projects, profitability reporting with revenue, cost, profit, and profitability metrics, and timesheet approvals for submitted, reviewed, approved, or rejected time entries.
Everhour Team Management adds an approval step around ClickUp-tracked work: managers can receive submissions, approve or reject entries, and lock approved periods for regular members. Admin time correction handles cleanup without asking each person to rebuild a timesheet before billing or payroll review.
Everhour Project Budgeting tracks hour or fee budgets as people log ClickUp work, with configurable alerts at thresholds such as 75%, 90%, and 100%. Budget protection can auto-stop timers and prevent extra time logging after the budget is exceeded, keeping project spending visible during delivery.
Everhour adds approvals, lock rules, admin corrections, tracking limits, and team policy controls around ClickUp task time, giving managers a cleaner record before billing, payroll, and project reporting.
