A Harvest ClickUp setup is useful when you want people to start a Harvest timer from a ClickUp task and send the resulting entry into Harvest timesheets. The documented setup adds a Harvest button inside ClickUp tasks through the ClickUp App Center, with a timer and manual entry modal. A Harvest account is required.
Access matters before workflow design. ClickUp lists the Harvest integration on all ClickUp plans, but the Time Tracking ClickApp must be enabled by an owner or admin. Guests and limited members cannot track time through integrations. Harvest receives new entries after the integration is enabled, and ClickUp says API rate limits can delay entries by one minute to one hour.
Harvest receives the selected Harvest project and task, plus the ClickUp task title and task ID, when time is added from ClickUp. The primary docs do not describe syncing ClickUp Spaces, Lists, or tags into Harvest. That makes the ClickUp task name and ID important because those fields connect the timesheet entry back to the work item.
Everhour's ClickUp integration uses the Everhour browser extension instead. It syncs ClickUp folders across Spaces, along with task and project changes into Everhour, then embeds controls for totals, estimates, budgets, billable setup, task time, manual entries, subtasks, and a timesheet button. Time tracked through Everhour is saved to Everhour reporting, and ClickUp notes it is not included in ClickUp reporting.
Harvest supports project, person, and task billable rates, plus cost rates for reports and exports. Team access to billable and cost rates starts on Harvest Teams and Enterprise. Harvest project budgets can use total project hours, hours per task, hours per person, total project fees, or fees per task, with email alerts after a user-entered percentage threshold is exceeded.
Plan gating changes the review process. Harvest lists timesheet approvals on Enterprise, where time and expenses are submitted and approved together, and approved timesheets lock entries for the covered week. Harvest reporting basics appear on Free, Teams, and Enterprise, while custom reports are limited to four on Free and Teams and unlimited on Enterprise. Profitability reporting is listed for Enterprise.
A ClickUp task timer is enough when the job is to capture occasional task time and keep a simple Harvest timesheet. It also fits a small account where the team only needs the ClickUp task title and task ID attached to the time entry. The mistake is treating that setup as a full project-control system without checking rates, approvals, reporting limits, and budget needs.
