Everhour turns Linear issue time into billable records while teams compare effort points with tracked hours.

Track your budget through time or costs
Every report you need — configured your way, always up to date.
Tracked hours flow straight into a polished invoice — no copy-paste, no manual math.
Start with the Linear issues tied to the project or cycle under review. Each issue needs enough context to make the delivery conversation specific: title, status, assignee, priority, estimate, labels, project, and cycle when those fields apply. The commitment sits outside the estimate. The issue record shows the work moving toward that commitment.
Compare Linear effort points with Everhour-tracked hours, then read the variance carefully. High tracked hours against a low effort-point estimate points to under-scoped work, slower execution, or a planning scale that needs adjustment. Very little recorded time on an active issue points to unstarted work or missing time records. Both cases need review before the delivery plan is trusted.
Linear estimates are effort or size values set at the team level. Base scales include Exponential, Fibonacci, Linear, and T-Shirt, with optional extended values. Linear uses those estimate values for effort and completion statistics, and unestimated issues default to 1 estimate point unless the team changes that setting.
Point estimates support planning, velocity, and relative sizing. Everhour-tracked hours support time, cost, budget, and billing review. Treat points as the planning unit and hours as the measured unit. A team can maintain its own conversion rule, but the work record still needs actual hours against the issue.
A usable review needs one record per issue. Keep the issue owner, project, status, cycle, Linear effort estimate, Everhour task estimate when used, reported time, and variance visible together. Add notes when a blocker, scope change, or follow-up issue explains why tracked hours moved away from the original expectation.
Review issues before rolling totals into a project-level summary. A single issue with more tracked hours than its Everhour task estimate can be normal if scope moved elsewhere. Several over-estimate issues in the same cycle point to a planning problem. Missing logs across active issues point to a tracking problem, which makes the delivery readout unreliable even when statuses look current.
A one-off check is enough when you need a short review for a small Linear project or cycle. Gather the issue list, current statuses, Linear effort-point estimates, Everhour task estimates when available, and tracked hours. Mark each issue as within estimate, over estimate, or missing time. That gives the team a clear delivery-risk list.
A managed workflow becomes the better choice when estimates versus actuals affect future budgets, invoices, or planning accuracy. Everhour embeds timers and manual logging controls inside Linear through the browser extension, syncs Linear workspace, project, issue, status, and tag data into reports, and can compare tracked time against task estimates so the history informs future work.

Start with the issues in the project or cycle under review, then check status, owner, effort-point estimate, Everhour task estimate, and tracked hours for each one. The useful comparison is planned effort versus recorded effort. Late discovery usually comes from open issues with no time logged, over-estimate work still in progress, or follow-up work created outside the visible record.
Treat Linear effort points as planning values, not measured clock time. Linear estimate scales rank effort or size, while actual time records show the hours spent on the issue. A team can maintain an internal conversion rule, but billing and delivery reviews need tracked hours because points do not show who worked, when, or for how long.
Use the issue title, status, assignee, project, cycle, priority, labels, Linear estimate, Everhour task estimate when used, reported time, and variance. These fields separate delivery risk from missing administration. An issue with no owner has an assignment problem. An issue with no logged hours has a tracking problem. An issue over estimate has a planning or scope problem.
Cycles give the team a fixed review window for started work, completed work, scope, and progress. Use the cycle window to inspect the issues planned for that period, then compare issue estimates with actual tracked hours inside the same period. The cycle gives review rhythm; the issue record carries the estimate and actual time evidence.
The fastest mistake is using issue status as the whole delivery signal. Status shows workflow position, while tracked time shows effort consumed. An issue can remain open after exceeding its Everhour task estimate, and another can look quiet because nobody logged time. Check missing logs, over-estimate hours, and unestimated follow-up issues before calling the plan current.
Everhour Billing & Invoicing converts tracked billable time and expenses into invoices, using project or member rates while excluding non-billable tasks. Invoice details can be grouped by project, task, person, or date, then exported to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreshBooks with status details visible in Everhour.
Everhour Project Budgeting can compare tracked time against task estimates and show remaining or over-estimate hours in reports. With the Linear integration, issue timers, manual entries, reported time, and synced project or issue context keep the comparison tied to the work people already review.
Track issue time where work happens, then let Everhour Billing & Invoicing calculate invoices from billable time, rates, and expenses while excluding non-billable work.
