We are going to start redoing it shortly and <strong>looking forward to your opinion<\/strong> and improvement ideas to help us deliver to-the-point functionality.<\/p>\n<p>As always, let\u2019s start by outlining the poor sides of the current calendar version:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>[well]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>as the app was initially created for internal use only, the calendar is honestly <strong>way too focused on our own team\u2019s needs and habits<\/strong>, and doesn\u2019t take into account other possible ways and purposes of using it;<\/li>\n<li>the calendar <strong>lacks flexibility<\/strong>: it provides you with a set of predefined characteristics like types of events and doesn\u2019t allow any customization;<\/li>\n<li>there are <strong>no notifications<\/strong> included though it\u2019s a very helpful and sought-after feature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/well]<\/p>\n<p>It makes good sense to have a handy calendar that fits a wide range of users, and that\u2019s exactly what the planned tweaks are aimed at. Take a look.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/everhour.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/new-calendar-layout-mockup.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1961\" title=\"new calendar\" src=\"https:\/\/everhour.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/new-calendar-layout-mockup.png\" alt=\"new calendar\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1030\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>(1,2)<\/strong> The major change involves an opportunity to create <strong>separate calendars for different types of events<\/strong>. You can have public <em>holiday\/vacation\/sick days<\/em> calendars or one that is used to track <a href=\"https:\/\/everhour.com\/blog\/project-milestones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">project milestones<\/a>. Depending on your company&#8217;s work processes or your imagination, you may set up as many calendars as you wish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For editing, you\u2019ll simply need to hover over a necessary calendar and click the gear icon that will appear.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>(5)<\/strong> The new calendars are going to also feature filtering by calendar types and members the same way as it\u2019s done in reports.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(3)<\/strong> In case there are tons of events planned for a certain day, they will be collapsed to prevent the day field from being oversized.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(4)<\/strong> The calendar will display either an event title or the name of the team member with whom an event is associated. In the second case, it will be a personal event. Any additional notes will also be included in the event description. What\u2019s cool is that you\u2019ll be able to connect the calendar to <strong>iCal <\/strong>or <strong>Google Calendar<\/strong> <strong>(1)<\/strong> to never miss an event. Without a title, the chosen calendar will display just a member\u2019s name.
