{"id":1776,"date":"2014-04-22T15:52:10","date_gmt":"2014-04-22T12:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/everhour.com\/blog\/?p=1776"},"modified":"2023-04-11T17:02:58","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T14:02:58","slug":"everhour-insights-updated-filters-section","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everhour.com\/blog\/everhour-insights-updated-filters-section\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated Filters Coming"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I\u2019ve mentioned earlier that our team is now busily working on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/everhour.com\/blog\/everhour-insights-new-time-reports-update\/\">new cooler reports<\/a><\/strong>, and while doing that we\u2019ve come up with a brilliant idea to improve report filters as well. Why do we need that? It\u2019s not that we have nothing to do here, there are in fact two good reasons for the tweaks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li> In case there are <strong style=\"font-size: inherit;\">more than 20 company members or projects<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">, you have to deal with a kilometer-long filter section on your reports page which is not handy at all. <\/span><em style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Hey, Everhour users with bigger teams, you know what I\u2019m talking about, right?<\/em> <\/li><li> Since we are adding more data grouping options in new reports, we can\u2019t let filters lag behind. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to share these enhancement ideas <strong>beforehand<\/strong> so that you can give us your first feedback and better understand how things will work. In case a project\/member has no tracked hours, it won\u2019t be displayed.<\/li><li>We\u2019ll add a <em>search opportunity<\/em> to let you quickly find a necessary name without looking through the whole list.<\/li><li>To get rid of the gigantic section length, we\u2019re adding <em>a scroll<\/em> that won\u2019t let the block go past a certain size. Moreover, we\u2019ve decided that <em>names should be sorted alphabetically<\/em> vs. by the number of hours tracked as it\u2019s currently done. We believe it will also make the searching process easier for you.<\/li><li>By default, all members\/projects are selected for a report though you don\u2019t see checked checkboxes next to each of them. We\u2019d like to add an explicit way to mark all names selected in one click. Thus you\u2019ll be able to easily exclude a couple of names from the list if needed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, we\u2019re going to implement <em>sticky navigation<\/em> so that you\u2019ll be able to always see the upper part of the filters section on your screen while scrolling down. It can be either the currently viewed report or all reports.<\/li><li>By default, the app selects a <em>data range<\/em> that you\u2019ve chosen for this report. You can select another one or pick \u201c<em>Skip<\/em>\u201d in case you don\u2019t want to <em>override the currently selected date range<\/em> (or any other parameter).<\/li><li>You can also save the remaining view options for reports.<\/li><li>To save the project and member filters, you need to choose them in the filter section beforehand.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s basically it. We\u2019re planning to introduce these new filters together with the updated reports in a couple of weeks which will hopefully make Everhour even handier for you to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So what do you think of our little tweaks?
